How to prevent lead-acid batteries from bulging?

1. Control the voltage and current. As mentioned above, excessive voltage or current can easily cause the battery to swell, so it is necessary to control the voltage and current.

2. Try to control the charging time, do not let the charging time be too long, and prevent overcharging. This is also very important, I often see posts on the forum about overcharging causing the battery to bulge.

3. Choose a better charger or check the generator on the engine frequently. Once a problem is found, repair or replace it in time to avoid causing the battery to bulge.

4. During the charging process, it is necessary to ensure that each connection point is firm, because if the connection point is loose, sparks will occur, which will cause hidden dangers for the battery to bulge.

5. The ventilation holes are guaranteed to be unblocked in time. In the usual maintenance, clean up the impurities around the battery in time.

6. Check in advance whether the battery shell is cracked and whether the electrolyte is leaking. Because once the electrolyte leaks, it may penetrate into the cable or circuit, resulting in a connection of electricity and sparks.

7. Eliminate the internal short circuit of the battery and the vulcanization of the electrode plate in time. The internal short circuit of the battery will generate sparks, which will detonate the hydrogen-oxygen mixture, and the vulcanization of the electrode plate will cause a large amount of gas inside the battery. Therefore, we should usually check whether there is a short circuit inside the battery and whether there is vulcanization.

8. It is forbidden to use metal objects such as cables to start fire on the positive and negative poles of the battery, which will easily cause the explosion of the heavy oxyhydrogen gas in the air, and even endanger personal safety in severe cases.

9. When overhauling electrical equipment, the flammable gas inside the battery should be removed first, because when overhauling electrical equipment, sparks will inevitably be generated or a large current will be generated in the battery, which is also a major safety hazard.

10. Check the amount and density of the electrolyte in time. This will protect the battery to a large extent and prevent the battery from swelling.

11. When starting the engine, try to avoid continuous starting for a long time.
